The 6-foot-3, 245-pound tight end signed his letter of intent on May 30, 2026, choosing the Panthers over offers from Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Louisville. Thomas is ranked as the No. 87 tight end nationally by 247Sports Composite, with a 0.8700 rating.
Thomas had a standout junior season in 2025, catching 41 passes for 570 yards and five touchdowns while also rushing for 97 yards and six touchdowns on 24 carries. He played multiple positions, seeing action at tight end, quarterback, and edge rusher. On defense, he recorded 31 tackles and 1.5 sacks. His performance earned him a 100% commitment rating from Pittsburgh's lead expert, Chris Thomsen.
Off the field, Thomas is a decorated track and field athlete. He posted a 125-5 mark in the discus and a 37-8.75 effort in the shot put as a junior. His versatility has drawn attention from recruiters, with 62 total offers across all sports. Thomas is the fifth tight end in the 2026 class to commit to Pittsburgh, joining Brock Nathan, P.J. Smith, and others.
Merritt Island coach Andrew Ivins said Thomas's decision reflects his work ethic. 'He's a rare athlete who excels in multiple sports without sacrificing his grades,' Ivins said. Thomas is expected to enroll at Pittsburgh in January 2026, ahead of his senior season at Merritt Island. His commitment comes as the Panthers look to bolster their tight end position ahead of the 2026 season.
