The Mustangs led 1-0 after a fourth-inning RBI single by Grant Arnold. American Heritage tied the game with a solo home run in the sixth and won 5-2 in Game 3 after scoring three runs in the first inning. Merritt Island finished the season with a 24-5 record.
Cocoa Beach (24-4) fell to No. 1 Lakeland Christian in Class 2A, Region 2 semifinals after a 7-run sixth inning by the Vikings in Game 2. The teams traded runs in four consecutive innings of Game 3, but Cocoa Beach lost 13-3. Brayden Wyman scored the first run for Cocoa Beach with an RBI single in the third inning.
Melbourne’s suspended game against Lake Minneola remains uncertain. The Bulldogs need a win to advance, but heavy rain and wind forced officials to halt play.
