Cocoa Beach police are investigating a man who allegedly caused thousands of dollars in damage to a local business late at night. Surveillance footage from the incident, which occurred around 2:45 a.m. on September 1, shows the suspect breaking a storefront window and damaging equipment inside the retail space on South Beach Drive. The business, which has not been named publicly, reported the damage to authorities shortly after sunrise. Police said the suspect fled the scene on foot after the vandalism. The estimated cost of repairs is pending an assessment by insurance adjusters. 'We’re looking for anyone who saw the individual or has information about his identity,' said Sgt. Maria Lopez during a press briefing Friday. The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans. Authorities are reviewing footage from nearby businesses and residences. The incident has sparked concern among local shop owners, who say similar acts of vandalism have increased in recent months.
