Bill Allen of Team Allen Lawncare and Landscaping was awarded the Space Coast Super Boat Belt by the Cocoa Beach organizing group last week. The honor recognizes Allen’s decades of competition, sportsmanship, and dedication to the annual Thunder On Cocoa Beach event. Allen, who has raced in the Super Stock class for over 10 years, called the award “very cool” and said it was “a huge honor” to be considered.

Allen and rookie driver Sabrina Kowalik finished fifth in the Super Stock class during the third Thunder On Cocoa Beach event last Sunday. The race, held in rough Atlantic Ocean conditions, saw Team Allen’s 32-foot Doug Wright catamaran compete against other teams. Despite the challenging environment, Allen’s team maintained a strong performance.

Allen has previously won Super Stock-class world championships in 2022 and 2024. His experience includes racing in the Iowa Motorsports Hall of Fame, where he is recognized for both automobile and powerboat achievements. Fellow racer Ryan Beckley praised Allen as “the best” in the class, noting his reputation for being “the nicest—and funniest—guy” in the competition.

Kevin Pruett, a member of the Cocoa Beach organizing group, described Allen as “a true gentleman” and “the epitome of a sportsman.” The Space Coast Super Boat Belt is given annually to a competitor who demonstrates consistency, respect, and commitment to the event. Allen’s award follows a weekend of racing that included competition in both Super Stock and Factory Stock categories.

Allen, who hails from Iowa and has a background in dirt-track racing, said he approached the award with humility. “I’m just glad they thought of us,” he said. The honor adds to his legacy in the Cocoa Beach racing community, where he has been a fixture for more than a decade.
