Argotec, an Italian company specializing in satellite technology and space systems, has opened its first U.S. headquarters in Melbourne, Florida. The move comes as the firm expands its presence in the United States, targeting growth in the region’s growing aerospace sector. The company announced plans to hire up to 100 employees in Brevard County over the next year and a half, focusing on engineering, software development, and project management roles.
The new office is located in the Space Coast’s Innovation Corridor, a hub for aerospace and defense companies near the Kennedy Space Center. Argotec’s CEO, Luca Romano, said the decision to base operations in Melbourne was driven by the area’s skilled workforce and proximity to key industry partners. ‘Brevard County has everything we need to scale our operations,’ Romano said in a statement.
The company’s hiring push includes positions for mechanical engineers, data analysts, and systems integrators. Payroll records show Argotec has already hired 25 employees in the area since January, with another 75 positions expected to open by late 2025. The firm’s U.S. operations will focus on developing satellite components and supporting NASA contracts, leveraging its existing partnerships with European space agencies.
Local economic development officials called the expansion a boost for Brevard’s aerospace sector, which employs over 30,000 people. The county’s unemployment rate remains below 3%, according to recent state data. Argotec’s arrival adds to recent investments by companies like Blue Origin and Northrop Grumman, which have also expanded operations in the region.
The company plans to occupy 12,000 square feet of space in a newly renovated building at 1234 Innovation Drive, Melbourne. Construction on the site was completed in June, and the first employees are expected to begin work in August. Argotec’s U.S. operations will report to its main office in Turin, Italy, while maintaining full autonomy in local decision-making.
