Health First Viera Hospital is inviting students from Brevard Public Schools to explore healthcare careers during a Student Exploration Day event. The hospital will open its doors to middle and high school students who have expressed interest in medical fields, offering a hands-on look at the work of healthcare professionals. The event is part of a broader effort to connect local students with career opportunities in the region’s growing healthcare sector.
The day will include guided tours of the hospital, interactive simulations, and opportunities to speak with doctors, nurses, and other staff members. Students will also participate in workshops designed to introduce them to different roles within the healthcare system. The hospital’s leadership said the event aims to demystify the path to becoming a healthcare worker and highlight the variety of careers available beyond clinical settings.
‘We want students to see healthcare as a viable and rewarding career choice,’ said Sarah Thompson, a hospital administrator. ‘By showing them what a day in the life of a nurse or technician looks like, we hope to inspire some of them to pursue these fields.’ Thompson emphasized that the event is free and open to any BPS student who applies.
The hospital has partnered with Brevard Public Schools to coordinate the event, which will take place in the hospital’s main lobby and training facilities. Transportation and lunch will be provided for participating students. The program is part of a series of outreach initiatives by Health First Viera Hospital to engage with the local community and address workforce needs in the healthcare industry.
