Health First’s Viera Hospital has been named to Forbes’ 2026 Top Hospitals by State list, joining just 10 other hospitals in Florida and the only one in Brevard County to receive a 5-star overall quality rating. The hospital’s recognition comes from data analyzed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Provider Data Catalog, which evaluates hospitals based on publicly available metrics.
The Forbes list, published in late July, highlights institutions delivering high-quality care. Viera Hospital earned its spot after receiving a 5-star rating in March for its second consecutive appearance on Forbes’ national Top Hospitals in America list. This achievement qualified it for Forbes’ inaugural best-in-state list, which recognizes top-performing hospitals within each state.
Out of more than 370 hospitals in Florida, only 10 made the 2026 Forbes list. Viera’s inclusion underscores its performance in areas like patient safety, treatment outcomes, and operational efficiency. The hospital’s ranking is particularly notable given Brevard County’s limited number of large medical facilities.
Forbes uses CMS data to assess hospitals nationwide, focusing on factors such as mortality rates, readmission rates, and patient satisfaction. Viera Hospital’s consistent high marks in these categories have positioned it as a leader in the region. The recognition could influence patient choices and reinforce the hospital’s role in serving the Space Coast’s healthcare needs.
