Health First cardiologists met with residents at Suntree Country Club on March 1 to answer questions about heart health. The free event, titled 'Heart-to-Heart with the Experts,' drew dozens of attendees who sat with three Health First cardiologists for an hour of open discussion. No appointments. No white coats. Just conversation over lunch.
The session covered prevention strategies, diagnostic tools like CT scans, and treatment options including cardiac catheterization, bypass surgery and hybrid procedures. Health First general cardiologist Shreya Mishra, MD, stressed that heart care starts with lifestyle choices long before symptoms appear. 'We see patients too late often,' she said. 'Prevention is where we can make the biggest difference.'
Attendees asked about risk factors, family history and when to seek care. One woman shared she had skipped her annual checkup for years. Another said her father's bypass surgery had her thinking about her own health. The physicians fielded questions about diet, exercise and medication without rushing through answers.
The event was part of Health First's ongoing community outreach. Similar sessions are planned at other locations in the coming months. No registration was required, and all materials were provided free of charge. The lunch was catered by local vendors.
Health First has hosted similar events in nearby counties. This was the first in Brevard County since 2023. The organizers said they plan to expand the series based on feedback from this session.
