The Florida Department of Health in Brevard County will hold its annual 'Feel Good February' Health Fair on Saturday, February 28, at the Viera Community Center. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free to the public. Organizers say the fair aims to provide accessible health resources to residents of all ages.
Participants can expect free blood pressure checks, cholesterol screenings, and diabetes risk assessments. Vaccination clinics will be available for adults and children, with a focus on flu and pneumonia shots. Local clinics and nonprofits will set up booths to discuss mental health services, nutrition programs, and substance abuse prevention.
The fair will include fitness demonstrations by local gyms and wellness workshops on topics like stress management and healthy cooking. A children’s area with interactive games will encourage families to attend together. Health department staff will be on hand to answer questions about new state programs expanding access to care.
This is the third year the event has taken place in Viera. Last year’s fair saw over 800 attendees, according to department records. "We want people to leave with actionable steps they can take immediately," said Sarah Thompson, a health educator with the department. "Whether it’s scheduling a screening or connecting with a local resource, we’re here to help."
No registration is required. Attendees are encouraged to bring insurance cards and a list of current medications. The Viera Community Center is located at 1550 E. Newhaven Ave. Free parking is available in nearby lots.
