Brevard County Animal Shelters are currently caring for more than 200 animals awaiting adoption. The shelters in Titusville, Cocoa, and Palm Bay have a range of pets available, from puppies to senior cats. Shelters report increased interest in adoptions as the weather cools. "We’re seeing more families looking for companions," said a shelter volunteer. "It’s a great time to find a pet that fits your lifestyle." Shelters emphasize the importance of adopting during the holidays, when many pets spend time in temporary foster homes. Available pets include dogs, cats, rabbits, and small mammals. Adoption events are held monthly at the main shelter in Titusville. Potential adopters must complete an application and attend an interview. Shelters also offer low-cost spay/neuter services and vaccination clinics. "Every pet here has been spayed or neutered," said a shelter manager. "We want to make sure they’re ready for their new homes." The shelters encourage prospective adopters to visit in person or browse online listings. Animals are available for adoption year-round, but shelters note that colder months often bring more animals into care. "We’re always looking for good homes," the manager added. "These animals deserve a second chance."
