Brevard County residents and visitors have plenty of no-cost options this weekend, with events ranging from space-themed activities to outdoor recreation. The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will host free admission on the first Saturday of the month, allowing guests to explore exhibits and meet astronauts without paying an entry fee. Meanwhile, the Brevard Public Works Department is offering free guided tours of the county’s water treatment facilities at the Brevard County Government Complex in Palm Bay, starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Local libraries are also joining the fray. The Brevard County Library System will host free family storytimes at the Cocoa Village Branch Library on Saturday morning, followed by a workshop on basic coding for teens at the Palm Bay Branch. Both events are open to the public and require no registration. For those preferring the outdoors, the Sebastian Inlet State Park will hold a free kayaking demonstration on the northern shore of the inlet at 9 a.m. Sunday, with equipment provided by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
The Brevard Museum and Space Center in Cocoa is offering free admission to active military members and their families on weekends through July. The museum’s planetarium shows are also available at no cost during the first hour of each session. Meanwhile, the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge will host a free birdwatching tour on the northern part of the refuge at 8 a.m. Saturday, led by refuge staff and open to all ages.
Community centers are adding to the mix. The West Palm Beach Community Center in Titusville will host a free open mic night on Saturday evening, featuring local musicians and poets. The event starts at 7 p.m. and includes free refreshments. For families with young children, the Satellite Beach Community Center is offering free art classes for kids aged 6-12 on Sunday afternoons, with supplies provided by the Brevard County Parks and Recreation Department.
