Suntree United Methodist Church will host two free concerts in September, featuring vintage rock and a rare saxophone-organ collaboration. The first, 'Rockin’ Autumn,' will take place at 3 p.m. Sept. 13 with the Melbourne Municipal Band’s Rock & Roll Revue performing '60s and '70s hits. Conductor Art Martin said the event aims to recreate the sounds of classic rock groups. A second concert, 'Pipes and Reeds,' is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sept. 27 and will pair the church’s 1924 Hook & Hastings pipe organ with the Adagio Sax Quartet. The program includes baroque music, jazz, and an original piece by Space Coast composer Mark Piszczek. Both events are free and open to the public. The church’s organist, Beau Surratt, who moved to Brevard from Chicago, will perform alongside the quartet. Surratt has played some of the finest pipe organs in Metro Chicago and will debut the church’s organ in the 'Pipes and Reeds' concert. Meanwhile, Brevard Recovery Fest offers free resources for addiction and mental health at the Brevard County Fairgrounds on Sept. 10. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes workshops, counseling, and family activities. In Cocoa Village, restaurants are hosting a 'Dine for Paws' fundraiser through Sept. 30 to support local dog rescues. Patrons can donate to the cause while dining at participating establishments. The concerts and events reflect a range of community-focused activities available in Brevard this month.
