A partial collapse of a single-family home in Palm Bay is being investigated by city officials, who have linked the incident to days of heavy rainfall. The home on a residential street in the city’s southeast quadrant sustained structural damage, according to a statement from the Palm Bay mayor’s office. No injuries were reported, but the incident has prompted a review of drainage systems in the area. "The rain overwhelmed the property’s foundation," said City Engineer Maria Lopez during a press briefing Tuesday. "We’re working with the owner to assess the full extent of the damage." The collapse occurred on Monday after nearly 4 inches of rain fell in 24 hours, exceeding the city’s average for the month of March. Neighbors described the home as leaning visibly before the collapse. "It looked like it was about to fall over," said resident James Carter, who lives two blocks away.
