The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team moved into eighth place after three rounds of the NJCAA Division I National Tournament on Thursday in Newton, Kansas. Nolan Hyatt led the way for EFSC with a 1-over 73 in the third round. The junior from Melbourne is 23-over for the tournament but stayed competitive with birdies on the ninth hole and three more on the back nine. His performance kept EFSC within striking distance of the top seven teams. Hyatt's score was part of a strong team effort that included contributions from multiple players.
Sean Jacoby shot a 2-over 74, bouncing back from early struggles. After double bogeys on the first two holes, Jacoby birdied the seventh and eighth holes to turn at 2-over. He finished the round with nine pars on the back nine, ending at 11-over for the tournament. Jacoby's resilience helped stabilize the team's position despite the challenging course conditions.
The Titans will tee off at noon Friday in the final round, facing competition from Iowa Western and Midland College. EFSC's coach said the team is focused on maintaining consistency and capitalizing on opportunities in the final round. With the tournament's leaderboard tight, the team's performance over the final 18 holes could determine their final placement.
