The Commodores built a quick lead, scoring 24 points in the first quarter. They maintained control throughout the game, adding 15 points in the second quarter and 8 in the third. Satellite struggled offensively, managing just 11 total points across all four quarters. Eau Gallie’s defense limited the Scorpio to a season-low in scoring.
Eau Gallie coach Sarah Mitchell said the team focused on execution in the game. “We came out with energy and played as a unit,” she said. “Our defense set the tone, and our offense capitalized on opportunities.” The Commodores outrebounded Satellite 32-18 and shot 42% from the field compared to Satellite’s 23%.
Satellite coach Mark Thompson acknowledged the gap between the teams. “We’re still finding our rhythm,” he said. “Eau Gallie is a well-coached team, and we didn’t match their intensity tonight.” The loss extended Satellite’s losing streak to 19 games, marking the worst start in program history.
The game was the first of two scheduled meetings between the teams this season. Eau Gallie will host Satellite again on February 12. For now, the Commodores’ win gives them momentum as they approach the final stretch of the regular season.
