Eastern Florida State College’s women’s golf team is in second place at the SSC Fall Warm-Up after shooting a 309 on Monday at Rio Pinar Country Club. The Titans trail host Seminole State College by nine strokes heading into the final round, which begins Tuesday. The tournament, held at the 6,400-yard course, has tested players with long fairways and wet conditions.
Freshman Kyuri Jeon led the team with a 75 in her first college round. Margaux Blais followed with a 77, and Faye Ye added a 78. Abigail Blackwell shot a 79, while Blair Powers finished with an 81. Each player had a strong nine-hole stretch and a weaker one, according to coach Jamie Howell.
"Rio Pinar played long and soggy today," Howell said. "Each player had a good nine and a poor nine. Need more balance tomorrow, and we can gain some ground." The team’s performance highlights the challenges of the course, which has forced players to adjust to tricky lies and firm greens.
The final round is scheduled for Tuesday, with the team looking to close the gap on Seminole State. The tournament is part of the Southern States Conference’s fall schedule, which includes teams from across Florida. Results will determine seeding for upcoming matches.
