Eastern Florida State College’s softball team is ranked No. 10 in the NJCAA Division I poll for the sixth straight week. The Titans enter the week with a 30-8 overall record and a 16-6 mark in the Citrus Conference. The team will host No. 9 Indian River State College in a doubleheader Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the EFSC campus in Melbourne. Admission is free to the game.
The Titans’ ranking comes as Northeast Alabama Community College holds the No. 1 spot, followed by Northwest Florida State College and Florida Southwestern State College rounding out the top three. Santa Fe College is fourth, and Temple College is fifth. Miami Dade College is 16th, Seminole State College is 18th, and Daytona State College is 22nd in the poll. Gulf Coast State College is the final team in the top 25.
EFSC’s coach, Melissa Carter, said the team’s consistency has been key to maintaining their ranking. “We’ve focused on defense and clutch hitting,” she said. “Every game is a chance to prove we belong with the top teams.” The Titans’ upcoming matchup against Indian River State, which is also in the top 10, will be a test of their ability to hold off stronger opponents.
The team’s performance this season has drawn attention from fans and local sports analysts.
