Eastern Florida State College freshman Sean Register Jr. has been named Citrus Conference Player of the Year, the first men’s basketball player to earn the honor since Owen Aquino in the 2023-24 season. The 6-foot-6 forward led the Florida College System Activities Association in scoring this season, averaging 24.8 points per game while pulling down 8.7 rebounds per game. Register Jr. scored 743 points this season, the most by a Titans player in the past 20 years.
Register Jr. was announced as the conference’s top player on Friday, joining teammates Misael Cruz-Rodriguez and Joviel Acevedo-Arroyo on the All-Citrus Conference team. Cruz-Rodriguez was named to the first team, while Acevedo-Arroyo earned a spot on the second team. The trio helped lead the Titans to a 22-8 overall record this season.
"It is definitely a blessing," Register Jr. said. "That was a goal, and I’m just grateful for the support from my coaches, teammates, and family." The freshman’s performance this season has drawn attention from college scouts, with several Division I programs reportedly tracking his progress.
Eastern Florida State College head coach Anthony Thomas praised Register Jr.’s work ethic. "Sean’s combination of scoring ability and basketball IQ is rare," Thomas said. "He’s a leader on and off the court, and this recognition is well-deserved." The Titans’ season concludes with a regional playoff game on March 14 in Melbourne.
Register Jr. becomes the first Titan since Aquino to win conference player of the year honors. His 743 points this season broke the previous single-season record set by former player Marcus Johnson in 2006. The recognition adds to a busy week for the program, which also announced plans to renovate its basketball facility later this year.
