The Eastern Florida State College men’s golf team ended the Shark Invitational in eighth place on March 25, 2026, after shooting a 291 in the final round at a course in Fort Lauderdale. The Titans wrapped up their regular season Monday, with coach Jamie Howell saying the team ‘just never got it going’ during the tournament’s final day. ‘A good round by Danny (Byers) but we need more good rounds strung together,’ Howell said. ‘It was a good tournament competition wise.’
Daniel Byers, a Titan, shot a 1-under 70 in the final round, finishing tied for 34th overall. Byers scored 1-under on the front nine and even par on the back nine. Jamie Smith followed with a 1-over 72, tying for 16th place, while teammate Sean Jacoby shot a 75 and tied for 44th. Nolan Hyatt and Josh Bibby rounded out the team’s scores with 74 and 76, respectively.
Florida Southern College claimed first place with a final-round score of 277, defeating host Nova Southeastern University. The Shark Invitational, held annually in Fort Lauderdale, drew teams from across the region. Howell emphasized the need for consistency moving forward, noting that the tournament provided valuable competition despite the team’s eighth-place finish.
The Titans’ performance came as part of their season-ending stretch, with the team set to conclude its regular season Monday.
