Eastern Florida State College’s men’s golf team will tee off in the Bantams Invitational on Monday at Lakeside Country Club in Laurens, South Carolina. The event starts at 10 a.m. with the Titans facing off against Columbia College and Florida College. The team is currently ranked No. 8 in the nation and enters the tournament as one of nine competing teams.
The Titans finished fourth in the Titan Winter Invitational in January, their first competition of the season. Individually, junior golfer Jamie Smith is ranked 11th in the country. Two other nationally ranked teams in the field are the host University of South Carolina Union, which is 33rd, and Andrew College, ranked 35th.
The Bantams Invitational is a key early-season event for the Titans. Head coach Mark Thompson said the team has been preparing for the tournament with focused practice sessions over the past month. ‘This is a chance to test our skills against strong competition,’ Thompson said. The tournament is held at Lakeside Country Club, a course known for its challenging layout and consistent conditions.
The event is part of a busy week for the team, which will return to Brevard County later this month for a home match against Florida Tech. The Titans’ performance in South Carolina could influence their seeding for upcoming regional tournaments.
