Eastern Florida State College's baseball team closed its regular season with a 4-1 and 8-5 doubleheader sweep of St. Petersburg College on April 26 at a local field in Brevard County. The Titans finished with a 21-29 overall record and a 14-19 mark in the Citrus Conference. The sweep extended their win streak to six games, providing a strong finish to a challenging season.
In the first game, sophomore pitcher Parker Trowbridge pitched a complete-game one-hitter, striking out eight batters. After allowing an early run, Trowbridge retired 17 consecutive hitters to keep the Titans in contention. The offense responded in the sixth inning when Steel Mientkiewicz and Chris Carroll reached base, followed by Jackson Wargo's RBI single. Andrew Prieto then hit a two-run double to give the Titans a 3-1 lead.
The second game saw the Titans capitalize on defensive plays and timely hitting. St. Petersburg College committed three errors, which the Titans converted into three runs. Senior shortstop Marcus Lee went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while outfielder Jordan Hicks drove in two runs with a double in the fifth inning. The Titans' bullpen held the Saints to just five runs over the final four innings.
Head coach David Morales praised his team's resilience. 'We knew this was our last chance to play in front of our fans,' he said. 'The guys battled through some tough moments and came through when it mattered most.' The sweep marks the Titans' first doubleheader victory of the season and gives them momentum heading into the postseason.
