The Eastern Florida State College baseball team swept a doubleheader against Seminole State College on Saturday, securing two wins in the process. The Titans, who improved to 3-3 in the Citrus Conference, won the first game 8-5 and the second 7-6. The sweep marks a strong performance for EFSC as they continue their season on the road.
In the first game, the Titans exploded for five runs in the top of the third inning. Andrew Prieto started the rally with an RBI single, followed by back-to-back two-run doubles from Bryce Jackson and Hutson Guinn that stretched the lead to 5-0. Seminole State responded with four runs over the next two innings but could not overcome the deficit. Omir Santos singled in the fifth inning, driving in two runs to make it 7-4.
The second game was a closer contest, with Seminole State scoring twice in the bottom of the fourth and once in the fifth to cut EFSC's lead to 4-3. The Titans held on, however, thanks to solid pitching and timely hitting. The win keeps EFSC competitive in the Citrus Conference, where they now sit at 3-3.
The series sweep comes as part of a busy week for EFSC athletics, which also saw the Titans' basketball team advance to the FCSAA Tournament. With the baseball team continuing its road schedule, fans will be watching closely as the season progresses.
