The Florida Department of Health in Brevard County is holding its annual Feel Good February Health Fair on February 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Brevard County Fairgrounds, 2100 N. US 1 in Palm Bay. The event is free and open to all residents, with no appointment needed.
The fair will include free health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose levels. Vaccinations such as flu shots and HPV vaccines will be available at reduced costs. Dental checkups and vision screenings will also be offered. Over 20 local health providers are participating, including Brevard Regional Healthcare, Health First, and the Brevard County Health Department.
Dr. Lisa Smith, director of DOH-Brevard, said the fair aims to make preventive care accessible. 'Many people delay checkups until they're sick,' she said. 'This event removes barriers by bringing services directly to the community.'
Additional services include health education workshops on diabetes management and mental health resources. A food truck will provide free meals, and activities for children will be available in the fairgrounds' pavilion. The event follows similar fairs in January, which saw over 1,200 attendees.
Residents are encouraged to bring insurance cards and a list of current medications. No insurance is required for any service. The fair is part of DOH-Brevard's yearlong initiative to reduce health disparities in the county, which has a population of over 500,000.
