A developer has purchased 53 acres along NASA Boulevard near Melbourne Orlando International Airport to build an 8,000-seat soccer stadium and mixed-use complex. The project, which includes retail, dining, and event space, is intended to serve as the home base for the Space Coast Soccer Club and host concerts. City officials confirmed permit applications have been filed, with plans to open the facility by 2028. The land was acquired this week from the airport, according to project documents. The stadium will anchor a development featuring nearly 55,000 square feet of shops, bars, and restaurants, plus areas for community events. Construction has not yet begun, and no start date has been announced. Melbourne Mayor Paul Alfrey said the stadium will serve the entire community. 'It's really an event stadium that I've been wanting for many years where we can do concerts,' he said. 'It's going to be an amazing place.' The Space Coast Soccer Club, a professional UFL team, will use the stadium as its home base. The development is designed to include both soccer-specific facilities and general event space. Permits are currently under review by the city, with the design and approval process ongoing. The project's timeline depends on finalizing details and securing necessary approvals.
