Delta Air Lines is launching seasonal weekend flights between Melbourne Orlando International Airport and New York City's LaGuardia Airport starting Dec. 19, 2026. The service will run every Saturday and Sunday through May 2, 2027, according to the airline. Tickets for the new route went on sale June 27. The flights will use Embraer E-175 aircraft, which have 44 main cabin seats, 20 comfort seats, and 12 first-class seats. The route is designed to support leisure travel during Florida's peak winter season and connect visitors to the Space Coast and Port Canaveral. Greg Donovan, executive director of Melbourne Orlando International Airport, called the new service a "natural addition" to Delta's route network. He noted that LaGuardia is the largest New York market for the airport and that the weekend schedule aligns with Port Canaveral's cruise season. "The weekend schedule is an excellent fit for Port Canaveral, the world's busiest cruise port," Donovan said in an email. "It gives travelers the convenience of flying into the closest commercial service airport to the port while supporting tourism and strengthening our regional economy." A Delta spokesperson said the route will provide "convenient access between the New York area and Melbourne" and expand travel options for customers. The airline is the largest global carrier in New York and has continued to grow its network to major leisure markets. The new flights are expected to boost tourism in Brevard County, which includes Port Canaveral, and enhance connectivity for visitors traveling to Florida's Space Coast.
