The Community Band of Brevard will perform its ‘Swing into Spring’ concert on Sunday, March 15 at 3 p.m. at Merritt Island High School Auditorium, located at 100 Mustang Way, off North Courtenay Parkway. Admission is free and no tickets are required. The event is part of the band’s annual series of public performances, which have drawn audiences across Brevard County for over 40 years.
The concert will feature a mix of big band and jazz hits, with medleys from Frank Sinatra, Woody Herman, Cole Porter, Count Basie, and Duke Ellington. Arrangements include ‘Sinatra,’ ‘Woody Herman in Concert,’ ‘Crazy for You,’ a tribute to the Count Basie Orchestra, and music by Duke Ellington and Cole Porter. The program also includes ‘John Williams Swings,’ a medley of themes from the composer’s film scores.
The Community Band of Brevard has been a staple of the Space Coast music scene since its founding in the 1980s. The group performs several free concerts each year, often at schools and community centers. This event follows previous performances at locations like the Brevard Public Schools Performing Arts Center and the Viera Village Amphitheater.
