The loss marks the second straight defeat for the Tigers in conference play this season. The final score was Cocoa Beach 2, Titusville 3. The match took place at the Cocoa Beach High School beach volleyball court, with an estimated crowd of 50 spectators in attendance.
Cocoa Beach coach Sarah Mitchell said the team showed improvement in the third and fourth sets but struggled with consistency. 'We had some great plays, but we made too many unforced errors,' Mitchell said. Titusville, which improved to 4-1 in conference play, capitalized on Cocoa Beach's mistakes in the fifth set to secure the win.
The loss keeps Cocoa Beach (2-3 overall, 0-2 conference) in a tight battle for a playoff spot. The Tigers are currently in fifth place in the Cape Coast Conference standings. Their next conference match is scheduled for April 17 against Satellite High School.
Titusville's victory extends their conference winning streak to three games. The Pirates (5-1 overall, 3-1 conference) have dominated their opponents this season, averaging 12.5 points per set. 'We prepared well for this match,' said Titusville coach Mark Thompson. 'Cocoa Beach is a tough team, but we executed our game plan.'
