Cocoa Beach High School’s football team dominated Bronson High School in their 2026 season opener, winning 35-7 at Bronson Stadium on August 14. The game drew over 2,000 fans, with Cocoa Beach’s student section leading chants throughout the match. Ryan Rogers of Cocoa Beach scored two touchdowns, including a 45-yard run in the second quarter that extended the Tigers’ lead to 21-0. Bronson’s defense struggled to contain Cocoa Beach’s offensive line, which consistently opened gaps for running back Nathan Sherwin. "We knew they’d be physical," said Bronson coach Mike Thompson. "But we didn’t execute when it mattered most." The game’s turning point came in the third quarter when Cocoa Beach’s defense forced a fumble by Bronson’s Ray Profit, leading to a touchdown drive. Bronson’s only score came late in the fourth quarter on a 20-yard pass from quarterback Jordan Stevens to wide receiver Cayden McVey. Cocoa Beach’s defense held strong in the final minutes, limiting Bronson to 133 total yards. The victory improves Cocoa Beach’s record to 1-0 on the season. The teams will face off again in October during the annual Space Coast Classic. Bronson’s next game is against Rockledge on August 20. Fans say the rivalry is heating up ahead of the 2027 state championship game, which will be held at Brevard County’s new football stadium.
