Cape Canaveral Air Force Station has set a new record by launching five different rockets within a single month for the first time in its history. The milestone occurred between March 1 and March 31, according to SpaceX and United Launch Alliance officials. The launches included three SpaceX missions, one United Launch Alliance Atlas V, and one Rocket Lab Electron.
The record-breaking month highlights the growing pace of commercial and government space activity in Brevard County. SpaceX’s Starlink satellites launched on March 1 and March 23, while the Atlas V carried a classified National Reconnaissance Office payload on March 17. Rocket Lab’s Electron rocket launched a payload for the U.S. Space Force on March 28.
SpaceX’s launch director John Taylor said the rapid pace reflects increased demand for satellite deployments and national security missions. “We’re seeing more launches than ever before, and Cape Canaveral is the hub for that activity,” he said during a press briefing last week.
The record comes as the Space Coast continues to expand its role in the space industry. Brevard County officials estimate the space sector supports over 35,000 jobs and contributes $10 billion annually to the local economy. Nearby Kennedy Space Center also saw increased activity, with two Artemis-related tests conducted in February.
Industry analysts note the record may be short-lived as SpaceX and other companies plan additional launches this year. The next SpaceX mission is scheduled for April 1, and United Launch Alliance has three more launches planned before June.
