Brevard Zoo is waiving admission fees for children aged 3 to 18 on May 22, 26 and 27 when accompanied by a paying Florida resident adult. The promotion allows up to three children per adult, with verification required through a state-issued photo ID or utility bill matching the adult’s name and address. The offer excludes other discounts like reciprocal membership benefits. Zoo officials confirmed the details during a press briefing last week. "This is our way of thanking Florida families for their support," said a zoo spokesperson. "We want to make sure more residents can experience our exhibits without financial barriers." The promotion overlaps with the zoo’s new capybara exhibit, which houses three animals named Tupi, Luna and Ginny in the Rainforest Revealed area. The capybaras, native to South America, are drawing interest from visitors and animal care staff. The zoo’s Illumi-Nature display will also run through May 27, featuring over 1,000 illuminated installations across 10 acres. The event typically draws crowds of 2,000 to 3,000 visitors per night. Brevard Zoo houses more than 700 animals representing 170 species, including endangered black-footed ferrets and red pandas. Admission for adults remains $24.95, with children under 3 entering free. The promotion is part of a broader effort by local attractions to boost attendance after pandemic-related declines. "We’re seeing a steady increase in visitors since last year," the zoo spokesperson added. "This promotion is just one way we’re trying to stay accessible to our community."
