Brevard County track and field teams secured positions at the upcoming FHSAA state championships following the Class 4A, 3A, 2A, and 1A regional meets held May 1-2. Viera High School’s boys team tied for fourth with 51 points, while Heritage High’s boys placed 10th with 33 points at the Class 4A, Region 2 meet. Rockledge High’s boys finished as runners-up in Class 3A, Region 4 with 76 points, trailing only Belen Jesuit Prep’s 130.5. The Rockledge girls placed fifth with 54 points, and Satellite High’s girls team took fourth with 68.5 points.
In Class 2A, Region 2, Titusville High’s boys team placed fourth with 49 points, Cocoa Beach was fifth with 45, and Cocoa High was ninth with 35. The Cocoa girls team led Brevard’s Class 2A contingent with 31 points for seventh place. West Shore High’s girls placed eighth with 29 points. In Class 1A, Region 2, Holy Trinity High’s boys team won the regional title with 104 points, defeating Oak Hall by 35. The Holy Trinity girls finished as runners-up with 117 points, while Melbourne Central Catholic’s boys placed sixth with 38 points.
Qualification for the state championships is based on regional results. The top two teams in each class and region automatically qualify, with additional spots filled by the next best 10 event scores across all regionals. The FHSAA state championships will be held May 6-9 at Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville. Class 1A competition begins May 6, followed by Class 2A on May 7, Class 3A on May 8, and Class 4A on May 9.
The regional meets highlighted strong performances across Brevard, with multiple teams earning state berths. Viera and Heritage’s Class 4A results, Rockledge’s dominance in Class 3A, and Holy Trinity’s Class 1A victory all underscore the depth of talent in the county. Coaches and athletes will now focus on preparing for the state meet, with the goal of advancing further in the postseason.
