The Brevard County Tax Collector’s Office is selling specialty license plates to raise awareness for Autism Awareness Month. The initiative, which began on April 1, 2026, allows residents to display plates featuring the autism awareness color scheme of blue and white. Proceeds from the plates will fund state programs and advocacy efforts for individuals with autism.
The Palm Bay branch of the Tax Collector’s Office has already begun displaying the plates on its vehicles. Officials say the move aims to increase visibility for the cause and spark conversations about autism in the community. “These plates are a simple way for people to show they care,” said a spokesperson for the office. “Every sale helps support critical services.”
Residents can purchase the plates at any Tax Collector’s Office location in Brevard County. The cost includes a $50 surcharge, which is added to the standard license plate fee. The money goes directly to the Florida Department of Education’s autism program, which provides resources for schools and families.
The Tax Collector’s Office has sold similar plates for other causes in the past, including breast cancer awareness and veterans’ support. This is the first time autism awareness plates are available in the county. Officials expect strong interest given the growing focus on neurodiversity in Brevard.
The plates will remain available through December 2026. Residents can apply online or in person at any of the office’s six locations, including the main office in Cocoa and branches in Titusville, Melbourne, and Palm Bay.
