Brevard County's schools ended the 2026 academic year with a record 92.7% graduation rate, the highest in district history. The figure reflects years of focused effort by the school board and educators, according to Chair Matt Susin. This rate surpasses previous marks and places Brevard among Florida's top-performing districts.
The district earned back-to-back A ratings from the state for two consecutive years. Schools once labeled as underperforming have improved, with no D or F-rated schools remaining. Over 90 schools received Purple Star recognition for supporting military families, and four high schools ranked in Florida's Top 100.
Despite progress, challenges remain. About one-third of Brevard's schools are still rated C, and 67% are A or B. Susin said the board is working to close gaps while managing finances. Last fiscal year, the district reduced long-term liabilities by $33 million through strategic planning.
Career and technical education programs expanded in aerospace, engineering, and skilled trades, aligning with Brevard's economy. These programs have increased opportunities for students, particularly in fields tied to the Space Coast's industries.
The school board's focus on accountability has kept momentum going. Susin emphasized that maintaining this success requires continued investment and collaboration. 'We've made progress, but the work isn't done,' he said. 'Every student deserves a chance to succeed.'
With graduation rates at historic highs and programs expanding, Brevard's schools face the task of sustaining these gains while addressing remaining challenges.
