The Brevard Schools Foundation is hosting its 30th Annual Golf Invitational on Friday, April 3, at Manatee Cove Golf Course. The event celebrates three decades of funding for public schools across Brevard County, drawing community leaders, business executives, and education advocates to the Space Coast. The tournament, which began in 1996, has raised over $4.2 million for student programs, technology upgrades, and teacher training initiatives. The invitational starts with driving range access at 6:30 a.m., followed by registration at 7 a.m. The tournament tees off at 8 a.m. and includes a lunch buffet, silent auction, and awards ceremony. Foundation officials say the event remains a key fundraiser despite shifting donor priorities over the years. Manatee Cove Golf Course, located near Patrick Air Force Base, has hosted the event since 2012. Course manager David Martinez said the foundation’s partnership has brought consistent revenue for maintenance and upgrades. Over 300 players are expected to participate this year, with 85% of attendees coming from Brevard businesses. The foundation’s executive director, Maria Lopez, emphasized that the event highlights ongoing needs. “While we’ve funded STEM labs and arts programs, we still need more support for mental health services and college readiness,” she said. The foundation plans to use 60% of this year’s proceeds for new after-school tutoring programs. The invitational is one of the largest single-day fundraisers for Brevard public schools. Last year’s event included a record 215 sponsors, with companies like SpaceX and Lockheed Martin contributing matching gifts. Volunteers will be on-site to collect donations for the foundation’s annual giving campaign, which runs through June.
