A March Madness-style bracket to crown Brevard County’s best wings is now live, featuring 16 local restaurants and food trucks selected through reader recommendations. Voters can cast their ballots in the first round to determine which establishments advance. The competition, organized by Florida Today, aims to settle debates over the region’s top wing spots, which have long sparked strong opinions among locals. Round-one results and the second-round bracket will be posted March 13. The bracket was seeded alphabetically after the 321 Flavor: Where Brevard Eats Facebook group identified the top contenders. First-round matchups include Baci Beachside in Satellite Beach versus Big Shot Bob’s in Cape Canaveral. Baci Beachside, a casual Italian restaurant on State Road A1A, is praised for its fresh flavors and beachside vibe. Big Shot Bob’s, a wing-focused eatery on Central Blvd., is known for its bold sauces and takeout-friendly meals. Another early matchup pits Broken Barrel Tavern in Palm Bay against Cajun Soul Bistro & Bar. Broken Barrel, a sports bar on Babcock Street, offers smoked wings and a large beer selection. Cajun Soul, located on Highway 525 in Melbourne, specializes in Creole-inspired dishes and has a reputation for flavorful, spice-laden wings. Voters are encouraged to comment on their picks after casting ballots. The competition includes a variety of wing styles — saucy, smoked, or dry-rub — and the final winner will be determined through reader votes. With 16 contenders, the bracket promises a spirited showdown over the next two weeks.
