Brevard County Libraries will host a free three-part workshop series on retirement planning with Stanford University educator Raj Bhargava starting April 6 at the Suntree/Viera Public Library. The sessions run from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each Thursday through April 20 at 902 Jordan Blass Drive. No registration is required for the event, which focuses on helping residents create a purposeful retirement plan.

The workshops, titled 'Purposeful Retirement: Your Next Chapter,' will cover topics like finding personal purpose, building resilience, and developing a growth mindset. Raj Bhargava, a Stanford educator and Silicon Valley entrepreneur, designed the curriculum. He also mentors social ventures through his work in high-tech innovation.

Each session will include interactive discussions and practical tools for attendees to explore their post-retirement goals. The library system has hosted similar workshops in the past but says this is the first time Bhargava's specific curriculum will be offered locally. His background in both education and entrepreneurship brings a unique perspective to the topic.

The Suntree/Viera branch has seen increased interest in retirement planning resources since the pandemic. Library director Maria Gonzalez said the workshops aim to address the growing need for financial and emotional preparedness among aging residents. The series is part of a broader effort by Brevard libraries to expand programming for seniors and retirees.
