This marks the 14th year the festival has brought dogs and their owners to the beach for a day of competition and community.
The festival will occur at Lori Wilson Park, 1500 N. Atlantic Ave, Cocoa Beach. Normally, dogs are not allowed on Cocoa Beach’s sand, but the event provides special access for participating dogs. A $5 donation is required for beach access, and proof of vaccinations must be shown. The fee supports the Brevard Humane Society’s animal care programs.
Dog owners can register their pets for the surfing competition, which is a highlight of the event. The festival includes activities for families, including food vendors, live music, and pet-friendly games. The Humane Society emphasizes that the event raises awareness about animal adoption and welfare.
The festival has grown since its debut in 2012. Last year’s event drew over 3,000 attendees, according to Humane Society records. Organizers expect similar turnout this year, with more than 200 dogs expected to compete. The event is held during Easter weekend, drawing visitors from across Brevard County and beyond.
