The Brevard HEAT Varsity Girls Beach Volleyball team dropped their latest match 0-5 to New Smyrna Beach High School on Friday, April 3, 2026, at a local beach venue. The game, part of the spring season schedule, ended with the HEAT unable to secure a single set against their opponents.
The loss marks the second consecutive defeat for the HEAT, who had previously fallen to Cocoa High School in early March. New Smyrna Beach, meanwhile, extended their winning streak to three games. The match drew a small crowd of parents and students, many of whom had traveled from Palm Bay to watch the team compete.
Brevard HEAT coach Maria Gonzalez said after the game that her team struggled with serve returns and net play. "We had a few opportunities but couldn’t convert," she said. "New Smyrna played with more consistency, and that’s what won them the match."
The HEAT, who are currently 2-5 in the season, will next face Satellite High School on April 10. The team has faced challenges this season, including injuries to key players and a tight schedule.
New Smyrna Beach High School’s victory moves them to 5-1 on the season. Their next game is against Titusville High School on April 7. The match against the HEAT was the first of two scheduled this week between the teams, with the second set for April 17.
