Brevard County Deputy Michael Fultz resigned Monday after the sheriff’s office opened an administrative investigation into allegations including using Flock surveillance cameras to look up his ex-girlfriend’s license plate and making a Nazi salute while shaving his mustache to resemble Adolf Hitler. The sheriff’s office received photos from Fultz’s ex-girlfriend showing him allegedly demonstrating the salute, which he admitted was a failed joke, according to a report.
Videos reviewed by investigators showed Fultz arguing with his ex-girlfriend in front of her child while wearing his deputy uniform. He used vulgar language and escalated the confrontation, the report states. Fultz also allegedly used his agency-issued firearm during a consensual sexual encounter, according to the investigation.
Fultz was involved in an officer-involved shooting in April 2025, where he shot and killed a man charging at him with a knife. He was named deputy of the year in March 2026 for that incident, with the sheriff’s office praising his “decisive actions” in saving a woman’s life during the encounter.
The internal investigation also found Fultz was stopped four times on his motorcycle in less than two months, including a 111 mph speed trap. The sheriff’s office did not specify the locations of the stops but said the violations occurred in Brevard County.
Fultz’s resignation comes less than two weeks after the sheriff’s office released the findings of the internal probe. The agency did not immediately comment on whether Fultz will face disciplinary action beyond his resignation.
The sheriff’s office report said Fultz’s actions during the ex-girlfriend altercation “undermined public trust” and that his use of Flock cameras for personal purposes violated department policies. The investigation is ongoing, according to a statement from the office.
