The Brevard County Tourist Development Council (TDC) will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, April 22, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Florida Room, Building C, 3rd Floor, located at 2725 Judge Fran Jamieson Way in Melbourne. The nine-member advisory board, appointed by the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners, meets quarterly to discuss tourism strategies and the use of tourist development tax revenues. The TDC oversees how funds from the 1.5% tourist development tax are allocated across the Space Coast. This includes grants for local attractions, marketing campaigns, and infrastructure improvements that support tourism. The meeting is open to the public, with no prior registration required. Angela Essing, the TDC’s executive director, said the group is currently reviewing proposals for new visitor centers in Titusville and Cocoa. The council also discussed potential partnerships with SpaceX and other aerospace companies to promote STEM tourism. The TDC’s decisions directly impact how millions of dollars are spent each year. Last fiscal year, the council approved $2.3 million in grants for beach restoration projects and $1.1 million for historic preservation efforts.
