The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office will hold its first 'Brevard’s Got Talent' event on June 6 at the FIT Clemente Center in Cocoa. The show replaces the department’s 10-year-old 'Dancing for the Space Coast' fundraiser, which raised money for local charities and youth programs. The new event will feature up to 15 performers selected through auditions judged by a panel of four people.
The sheriff’s office said the transition comes after 'Dancing for the Space Coast' helped raise over $1 million for initiatives like food banks, education grants, and mental health services. The new talent show aims to continue that work while highlighting local performers. The event will begin at 6 p.m. and include live music, food trucks, and a raffle.
Auditions for 'Brevard’s Got Talent' opened in late March and closed in early April. Performers can be singers, dancers, magicians, or other artists. The sheriff’s office did not specify how much money the event hopes to raise but said proceeds will go to the same charities supported by the old event.
The FIT Clemente Center, located at 1400 S. Orlando Ave., has hosted other community events in recent years. The sheriff’s office said it chose the venue for its accessibility and capacity to handle the expected crowd. Tickets for the show are $25 each, with discounts for students and seniors.
The department’s charity, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Foundation, will oversee the event. The foundation has funded over 200 local programs since 2010, according to its website. The new talent show is the first major fundraiser under the foundation’s new leadership.
