The FHSAA Track and Field State Championships begin Wednesday, May 6, and run through Saturday, May 9, at Hodges Stadium on the University of North Florida campus. The event features four class divisions, with Class 1A competing first. Brevard County will send athletes from 16 schools to Jacksonville for the four-day meet. Holy Trinity High School has the most athletes listed, with competitors in boys and girls events across sprints, relays, hurdles, and field events. Boys track includes Bo Bagwell in the 400-meter dash and Evan Spreitzer in the 1600 and 3200-meter runs. Girls track highlights include Julianna Pedicini in the 100-meter dash and Cailyn Easton in the 100-meter hurdles. Melbourne Central Catholic and Odyssey Charter also have athletes entered in Class 1A. Class 2A events start Thursday, with Astronaut High School’s Noah McCollam competing in the 3200-meter run and Cocoa High School’s Malik Evans entered in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Hodges Stadium will host over 200 teams from across Florida, but Brevard’s athletes will be among the most active in the early rounds. The meet follows the FHSAA’s annual schedule, with Class 3A and 4A events on Friday and Saturday. Specific event times and heats will be posted online by the Florida High School Athletic Association. No other Brevard schools have released athlete lists yet, but the competition will include relays, jumps, and throws in all divisions. The championships are the culmination of the spring track season for Florida high schools.
