State playoff brackets for Brevard County high school softball were released Friday, with Melbourne High School leading the final rankings of the 2025-26 season. The rankings, which include teams' records through April 30, determine seeding for the upcoming postseason. Melbourne High (25-1, District 7-6A) remains atop the list after defeating Viera 11-0 in the district championship game. The Bulldogs' only loss came April 4 against Doral Academy (23-2, 15-6A).
Eau Gallie High School (21-3, District 8-4A) holds the No. 2 spot after winning the 8-4A title with victories over Rockledge (11-1) and Satellite (13-3). Astronaut High School (14-7, District 8-3A) is third following a dominant run through the 8-3A playoffs, including 15-0 and 14-0 wins in the championship. Melbourne Central Catholic (14-7, District 8-2A) rounds out the top four after defeating Cocoa Beach (12-2) and Space Coast (7-1) for the 8-2A title.
Bayside High School (14-9, District 13-5A) climbs to No. 5 after a three-game district championship series, including a 4-2, 8-inning win over Sebastian River. The Bears were unranked last week. Other teams on the playoff bubble include Merritt Island Christian (12-6, District 13-1A), Viera (14-11, District 7-6A), and Space Coast (11-11, Class 8-2A).
The final regular-season games for most teams occurred before the state brackets were released, with district tournaments concluding in late April. Melbourne High's perfect district record and strong overall performance give it the best chance to advance deep into the playoffs. Eau Gallie and Astronaut will also face tough competition in their respective brackets.
Coaches and players have until the first round of the state playoffs to prepare, with the first games scheduled for late May. The rankings reflect a competitive season across Brevard County, with multiple teams vying for state tournament berths.
