Blue Origin has begun using a new off-site parking area at Titusville’s Space Coast Regional Airport, with shuttle buses and security guards now in place at the staging zone. The company is also negotiating a lease for the airport’s old terminal building at 1 Bristow Way, where it plans to make improvements. These moves come as Blue Origin works to rebuild its New Glenn rocket launch complex at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station after a rocket explosion in May damaged the site.
The new staging area, marked by 'Blue Origin Parking' signs along Perimeter Road, is located on nine acres off Challenger Avenue. The temporary agreement with the airport runs through June 30, 2027, and includes a monthly payment of $16,880. Airport Director Kevin Daugherty called the company 'a pleasure to work with' during a recent board meeting, saying the airport is committed to supporting its efforts.
Blue Origin is also developing a second launch complex, designated 36B, to accommodate a larger version of its New Glenn rocket. The expansion follows the company’s ongoing work to upgrade its Merritt Island manufacturing facilities. While details about the terminal lease remain limited, the airport has confirmed the pending agreement.
Daugherty emphasized the airport’s willingness to assist Blue Origin, noting the company’s 'first-class' cooperation. The terminal lease would allow Blue Origin to occupy the former terminal building, which has been vacant since the airport’s expansion in 2020.
The company’s presence at the airport is growing as it navigates the challenges of rebuilding its launch infrastructure. With the new staging area and potential terminal use, Blue Origin is solidifying its footprint on the Space Coast during a period of significant aerospace activity.
