Blue Origin has acquired a commercial land parcel in Cocoa, Florida, according to recent filings with the Brevard County Property Appraiser's Office. The 10-acre site on State Road 520 is among several properties the company has secured in the area since 2021. The purchase adds to Blue Origin's existing holdings near the Kennedy Space Center, where it operates a rocket landing facility.
The company declined to comment on the acquisition when contacted by 321 Daily. However, the move follows a pattern of strategic land purchases by aerospace firms in Brevard County. SpaceX has acquired over 200 acres in nearby Titusville for its Starship program, while NASA continues to expand its presence at the Kennedy Space Center.
Cocoa, a city of 28,000 residents, has become a hub for aerospace activity in recent years. The town's proximity to the Kennedy Space Center and its existing infrastructure have made it a target for companies seeking to establish operations in the region. Blue Origin's latest acquisition is located less than 15 miles from the launch pads at Cape Canaveral.
Local officials have not yet announced any plans for development on the site. However, the acquisition has drawn attention from business groups in the area. The Brevard Economic Development Commission noted in a statement that the purchase could lead to new job opportunities in the coming years.
The land is currently zoned for industrial use, which would allow for the construction of facilities related to spaceflight operations. Neighbors have not yet raised concerns about the development, though some residents expressed interest in learning more about Blue Origin's plans for the site.
