Bermudian racers David Selley and Steven Bridges will compete in the Super Stock Class at Thunder on Cocoa Beach 2026 this week, seeking to build on their 219-point lead in the IHRA Offshore Racing Series. The pair earned 115 points at the season’s first event and added 104 points at the New Orleans race in their S-25 Team Bermuda boat. The event runs May 14 at Cocoa Beach’s Indian River Lagoon, with qualifying sessions starting at 9:30 am.
Selley and Bridges’ total of 219 points puts them ahead of other competitors by more than 50 points. Another Bermudian, Luis Martins, and throttleman Nick Imprescia trail in sixth place with 160 points in the 32-foot catamaran S-12 Nuff Said. Martins and Imprescia collected 77 points at the St Pete Grand Prix and 83 points in New Orleans.
The Cocoa Beach event is the third stop in the 2026 IHRA Offshore Racing Series, following races in St. Petersburg and New Orleans. The series includes eight events across the US, with points awarded for each race’s top finishes. Selley and Bridges’ performance this week could solidify their position before the season’s halfway mark in June.
Imprescia joined Martins’ team earlier this year after competing in the 2025 season with a different crew. The pair’s boat, S-12 Nuff Said, is one of 12 competing in the Super Stock Class this week. Race organizers expect strong turnout from local and international competitors, with spectator viewing areas set up along the lagoon.
The event is part of a growing powerboat racing presence in Brevard County, which hosts multiple offshore racing events annually. Local officials have noted increased interest in the sport since the 2024 season, with attendance rising by 15% compared to previous years.
