Brevard County has joined the growing list of Central Florida counties affected by the Avian flu. The virus has been confirmed in several local areas, including in some of our beloved wildlife refuges. While the risk to humans is low, the Brevard County Health Department is urging residents to take precautions when interacting with birds, such as washing hands frequently and avoiding contact with wild birds. Local animal owners are also being advised to take extra precautions to prevent the spread of the virus to their pets.
