A $28 million affordable senior housing project in Titusville has reached the topping-off milestone, with construction now set to shift focus to interior work. Housing Trust Group and HFH Supportive Housing officials held a ceremony last week to celebrate the achievement at the future site of the 60-unit community on Lee Road. The development, which will include one- and two-bedroom apartments, is designed to serve seniors earning up to 60% of the area median income.
The project is part of a broader effort to address housing shortages for older adults in Brevard County. According to Housing Trust Group spokesperson Jane Doe, the partnership between the two organizations aims to provide stable, affordable living options for residents who may struggle with rising costs. The site includes common spaces, on-site support services and accessibility features tailored for seniors.
Funding for the project comes from a mix of sources, including federal low-income housing tax credits, state grants and private investments. Local officials have highlighted the development as a critical step in expanding housing options for aging residents. The project is expected to create approximately 200 construction jobs during its build phase, with final occupancy projected for early 2025.
The topping-off ceremony drew attendees including city officials, community leaders and representatives from the nonprofit organizations involved. HFH Supportive Housing CEO John Smith emphasized the importance of the project in meeting unmet needs. 'This isn't just about buildings,' he said.
