A 7-foot-6 alligator startled a family outside their Palm Bay home early Monday, according to local reports. The creature appeared at the front door of the residence on a quiet street near the Indian River, prompting a rapid response from Brevard County police and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers. The gator was spotted by neighbors before authorities arrived, according to a police statement.
The family, who did not immediately speak to reporters, said the reptile lingered near the house for several minutes before officials safely captured it. No one was injured during the encounter.
