Dan Cicirelli, a Democrat running for Florida House District 31, says he is running to represent Brevard County’s residents. The Cocoa resident, who has no prior elected office experience, emphasized his focus on voter engagement and local issues in his questionnaire response. Cicirelli, 38, has spent the past year and a half organizing for the Brevard Democrats and volunteering with groups like Food Not Bombs and Awake Brevard. He plans to seek higher office after winning this race.
Cicirelli joined the Brevard Democrats in December 2024 and became a precinct organizer in January 2025. He also founded the Space Coast Self Defense Club and Space Coast Protest Medics in 2025 and served on the board of the Space Coast Progress Hub until resigning to focus on his campaign. His work includes registering voters, helping returning felons restore their rights, and providing free handyman services to elderly neighbors in Cocoa.
The candidate, who holds an associate’s degree in arts from Eastern Florida State College, said he has no military service history. He described his political involvement as a continuation of his community efforts, which include volunteering with the Brevard Progressive Democratic Caucus and the Brevard Environmental Caucus. Cicirelli also canvassed for Vance Ahrens during the 2025 special election.
Cicirelli’s campaign has not yet released a detailed policy platform, but his questionnaire response outlined a focus on grassroots organizing and local issues. He said he plans to continue his volunteer work if elected, including his weekly commitment to helping elderly residents in Cocoa. His campaign has not yet commented on specific legislative priorities or opponents in the race.
